History reference:
The Somali shilling is the currency of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The Brunei dollar is the currency of Brunei. Early currency in Brunei included cowrie shells. Brunei is famous for its bronze teapots, which were used as currency in trade along the coast of North Bo...rneo. Brunei issued pewter coins called pitis in 1285 AH (1868 AD). Their issue followed the one cent coins in 1304 AH. (1888 AD). This cent was equal to one hundredth of a dollar. The Brunei dollar replaced the Malayan dollar and the British Borneo dollar in 1967 after the formation of Malaysia and the independence of Singapore. Until June 23, 1973, the Malaysian ringgit was exchanged at par for the Singapore dollar and the Brunei dollar.
