Bancor Network Token (BNT) - is a decentralized liquidity network that allows you to store any Ethereum token and convert it to any other token on the network, without any counterparties, at an automatically calculated rate using a simple web wallet. One of the key elements of the Bancor network is automatic pricing. This comes from the built-in automated Smart Tokens. This means that smart token contracts always buy or sell smart tokens from or to any user in exchange for any connector token (as well as any token found on the network). On July 10, the Bancor exchange announced that a vulnerability in the platforms system was used to steal 24,984 ETH (about $ 12 million), as well as NPXS tokens worth $ 1 million and BNT (Bancor domestic tokens) worth $ 10 million, thus the total damage at current rates amounted to about $ 23 million. The stolen BNT tokens were frozen using a mechanism built into the Bancor protocol. The exchange said the mechanism was put in place just for such problems, in order to “take advantage of it in an extreme situation and recover from a hack, allowing Bancor to stop scammers from escaping with tokens.
