History reference:
The Brunei dollar is the currency of Brunei. Early currency in Brunei included cowrie shells. The Bahamian dollar has been the national currency and money of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas since 1966. At the same time, a transition was made to the decimal system - the Bahamian dollar began to equal 100 cents. During the transition to a new currency, three-dollar bills and coins of fifteen cents were introduced, since three dollars are approximately equal to one pound, and fifteen cents - 1 shilling, which was convenient during the transition period.
