History reference:
The Colombian Peso is the official currency of the Republic of Colombia. The peso became the Colombian coin in 1810. In 1837, the peso began to replace the real. Commemorative coins are legal tender and must be accepted in all settlements at par. In 2014, a new issue of banknotes with improved anti-counterfeit protection followed. The banknote of 200 escudos was the first in the history of Cape Verde, printed on a polymer basis.
