The Djibouti franc replaced the official currency of France, the French fra...nc, in 1977 upon independence. In 1952, the State Treasury took over the production of paper money. The change of French Somalilands name in 1967 to the French Territory of Afar and Issas was reflected on both the territorys coins and banknotes. In 1971 and 1973, the franc was revalued against the US dollar, first to 197.466 per dollar, then to 177.721 dollars, and the rate has remained the same ever since. Further changes in coin and banknote design followed independence in 1977.

History reference:
CLP in the foreign exchange markets stands for the abbreviation for Chiles currency, known as the Chilean peso. The "old" peso was used as the currency in Chile between 1917 and 1959, when the escudo... (CLE) came into effect. The current (or new) Chilean peso was reintroduced on September 29, 1975, replacing the escudo with an exchange of 1 peso for 1,000 escudos. The Chilean people also refer to their currency as "lukoi" when referring to the 1,000 peso note, "quina" for the 500 peso coin, and "gamba" for the 100 peso coin. On September 29, 1975, instead of the escudo, the peso was reintroduced, the escudos were exchanged for 1000:1 pesos. During the years of the dictatorship, on the obverse of the 5 and 10 peso coins, the image of a winged woman breaking the chains was used, with the signature LIBERTAD (freedom) and the date of the military coup 9/11/1973 - the figure symbolized "liberation from Marxism". After the restoration of civil power in Chile, the design of the coins was changed, the image of the national hero Bernardo OHiggins was placed on the obverse.
