History reference:
The Suriname dollar is the currency of the Republic of Suriname. From the end of the 17th century, the Surinamese guilder was used as a currency in Suriname, which was in circulation on a par with th...e Dutch guilder. In 1940, after the occupation of the Netherlands by Germany, the Surinamese guilder was pegged to the US dollar at a ratio of 1.88585 guilders to 1 dollar.
