Sum is the national currency of Uzbekistan. Since November 15, 1993, in the Republic of Uzbekistan, in order to protect the domestic market from excess ruble supply, additional temporary banknotes "sums" or sum-coupons were introduced in a ratio of 1: 1 to the Soviet ruble. On July 1, 1994, by the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan, a constant currency is put into circulation - the Uzbek Soum at the rate of 1 sum = 1000 sum-coupons. On July 1, 2013, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued a new banknote with a face value of 5,000 soums. Currently, all banknotes and coins are in circulation, but banknotes up to ten and coins up to twenty-five soums are not used.
