History reference:
The national currency of Egypt is the Egyptian pound or guinea, pronounced el-Giney, el-Mashri). The Sudanese pound is the national currency of the Republic of Sudan, temporary for the Republic of South Sudan. The 1957 Sudanese pound was used in circulation until 1992. On June 8, 1992, the government of Sudan carries out a monetary reform, as a result of which the Sudanese pound is replaced by the Sudanese dinar at an exchange rate of 10 pounds = 1 dinar.
