The Gibraltar pound is pegged to the p...ound sterling at a ratio of 1:1. The name Gibraltar comes from the ancient Arabic language, where it literally means "Mount Tariq" - the Arab commander Tariq ibn Ziyad, who crossed Gibraltar to Europe to capture the Iberian Peninsula. Currently, Gibraltar has the status of a British Overseas Territory, with sufficient autonomy. Gibraltar, which is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is part of the EEC and the EEC customs union, but is not included in the euro area, which allows the territory to adopt its own liberal tax and financial laws, being an offshore zone.

History reference:
Riel is the national currency of Cambodia. Before the introduction of the riel, the Indo-Chinese piastre was the monetary unit in Cambodia, to which the countrys new money was equated. The Pol Pot re...gime was preparing to introduce its own banknotes, they were printed, but they did not have time to enter circulation. In the days of the Khmer Rouge (Kampuchea), rice was the de facto currency in the country. Money and the banking system (April 1975) as a whole were abolished. The origin of the term riel is debated, with some arguing that it comes from the Khmer word for small fish. Others say it comes from the high-silver Mexican real used by Malay, Chinese and Indian traders in the mid-19th century. This version of the riel remained in effect until 1975, when the Khmer Rouge took over the country and the money was abolished. After the 1979 invasion of Vietnam that drove out the Khmer Rouge, the second and current version of the riel was introduced in 1980 when the Central Bank was restored. With no money to replace new banknotes and the economy in decline, the government first had to distribute the money to the public.
