History reference:
The state monetary unit of Hungary is the Hungarian Forint (Hungarian Forint, international code - HUF). Used since 1946, before that the pengő was used as the Hungarian currency, which could not sur...vive the largest hyperinflation in history. Previously, forints had small change coins - fillers, but now they are out of circulation. When the Hungarian National Bank first issued the new currency, banknotes denoting 10 and 100 forints entered circulation. Each forint was subdivided into 100 fillers. Until 1991, following the inflationary processes, the National Bank expanded the available set of banknotes by issuing banknotes with a higher denomination. Later, it was decided to revise the design of the currency, and since 2001, on each banknote, on the one hand, a Hungarian statesman is depicted, and on the other, an event associated with his activities. It should be noted that there are no watermarks on the forints. Protection against counterfeiters is provided, first of all, by a holographic strip.

In a number of Middle Eastern countries, it served as a measure of weight in transactions. In Canaan and Mesopotamia, the shekel was used as the standard for weighing gold and silver and was originally a unit of weight of about 11 grams. The shekel became the currency in Tire and Carthage. Then shekels became the main monetary unit in Ancient Israel and were fixed there as a national currency.
