The Indonesian rupiah (Indon. rupiah) is the official currency of Indonesia. The symbol used on all banknotes and coins is Rp. The unit of exchange is sen (Indon. sen), one hundredth of a rupee. Sen ...has not been issued since the 1960s and has de facto gone out of cash circulation, but remains in non-cash financial transactions. Throughout its history, the Indonesian rupiah has been subject to only one denomination. Until 1944, the Dutch guilder was used in Indonesia. During the period of occupation by Japan (1944-1945), the rupiah was introduced into the country. In 1945, Indonesia proclaimed independence and the Indonesian rupiah was introduced into money circulation, which was used in financial circulation along with the occupation and Dutch guilder banknotes. In 1965, inflation occurred in the country, which led to the need for a denomination of the national currency. On December 13, 1965, a new rupee was issued, at a rate of 1,000 old to one new rupee.

The Japanese yen is the official currency of Japan, one of the worlds leading currencies, an important reserve currency along with the US dollar, euro and pound sterling. On the front side of Japanes...e banknotes, writers and educators are depicted: 10,000 yen - a portrait of Fukuzawa Yukichi, 5,000 - Nitobe Inazo, 2,000 - Murasaki Shikubu, and 1,000 - Natsume Soseki. Coins differ from each other in the material of manufacture and pattern. Made of nickel are 500 yen (with a paulownia flower on the front), 100 yen (sakura), and 50 yen (chrysanthemum). A 10 yen coin, which depicts the Phoenix Hall of Bedoin Monastery, and a 5 yen coin decorated with a rice ear are minted from bronze. 1 yen is made of aluminum and contains a symbolic image of a seedling. On the reverse side of the coins, as a rule, the denomination and year of issue are indicated. 5 and 50 yen have a hole in the center.
