The North Korean Won is the official currency of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. Lopatin, and "won" in the masculine - as the Bank of Russia writes in its daily quotes of the currency bearing the same name as South Korea. This is due to the complexity of translation from Eastern languages. Throughout almost its entire history, the Korean Peninsula has been under the cultural, political and economic influence of a powerful neighbor - China. This influence was also reflected in the monetary system of Korea. Until the end of the 19th century, the main monetary unit was the Korean mun - a cast bronze coin with a square hole.
