The Serbian dinar is the national currency of Serbia. During World War II, Germany occupied Yugoslavia. The new Serbian dinar replaced the Yugoslav dinar in 1941, pegged to the German Reichsmark at a rate of 250 dinars to one Reichsmark. After the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1944, the Yugoslav dinar returned instead of the Serbian dinar at the rate of one Yugoslav dinar to 20 Serbian dinars.
