The Solomon Islands dollar is the national currency of the Solomon Islands. Originally a British protectorate, the Solomon Islands gained independence in 1978. The Solomon Islands dollar began to be put into circulation on October 24, 1977, replacing the Australian dollar. The currency got its name in honor of the Australian currency. Since gaining independence in 1978, the new currency has become the official currency of the young state. For two years, the Solomon Islands dollar was pegged to the Australian dollar.

History reference:
The Belize dollar has been the national currency and money of Belize since 1885. Replaced the pound sterling. In 1973, with the change of the name of the country from British Honduras to Beziz, the c...urrency changed its name: from the British Honduras dollar to the Belize dollar. Despite the fact that the state was part of the “fermentation” zone of the British pound sterling, it based its economy on the US dollar. The Honduran dollar continued its attachment to the US dollar even after the UK abandoned the gold standard in the 1930s. However, at the beginning of the Second World War, British Honduras, along with some other countries, joined the area of circulation of the British currency. And after the devaluation of the British pound in 1949, the Honduran dollar was finally pegged to the US dollar. This fact contributed to a sharp increase in the local currency against the pound. For many years, the exchange rate of the Belize dollar to the US dollar has been at the same mark, equal to 2:1, respectively.
