History reference:
The Sudanese pound is the national currency of the Republic of Sudan, temporary for the Republic of South Sudan. In addition, along with the Egyptian pound, it acts as the currency of the Halayib Tri...angle. The territory of Sudan covers most of the African savannah in the geographic region of the same name in the valley of the upper Nile River, as well as the eastern part of the Darfur and Kordofan plateaus. In the northeast of the territory of Sudan, the Nubian Desert extends, adjacent to the coast of the Red Sea. The territory of Sudan is almost 1 million 900 thousand square kilometers. Until 1957, the Egyptian pound was used as a means of payment in Sudan. In April of the same year, at a 1:1 exchange rate, the Egyptian pound was replaced by the Sudanese pound. The 1957 Sudanese pound was used in circulation until 1992. On June 8, 1992, the government of Sudan carries out a monetary reform, as a result of which the Sudanese pound is replaced by the Sudanese dinar at an exchange rate of 10 pounds = 1 dinar.

History reference:
The name rand (rand) comes from the name of the mountain range, the name of which sounds like the Witwatersrand (in one of the official languages of South Africa, Afrikaans Witwatersrand). This mount...ain range is located in the South African province of Gauteng, which is famous for the largest gold deposits in the country. The South African rand was first introduced into circulation in February 1961, shortly before the founding of the Republic of South Africa. The rand replaced the South African pound at a rate of 2 rand to 1 pound. Up until the early 1970s, the rand was worth about 1.5 rand to the US dollar. However, in the following decades, the rand quickly depreciated, and at the turn of the 21st century and during the Great Recession, it changed significantly. As the political landscape changed in the early 1990s, the rand slowly depreciated to record lows due to uncertainty. The fall was exacerbated when land reform began in 2001. Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, global uncertainty took its toll and the rand plummeted again to 13 rand per US dollar.
