History reference:
The Tajik somoni has been the national currency and money of the Republic of Tajikistan since 2000, which has replaced the Tajik ruble. The coins of this issue were minted at the St. Petersburg Mint. On the coins of 2006, in comparison with the coins of 2001, there is an enlarged image of the denomination. In 2018, redesigned coins of 1, 3 and 5 somoni were minted at the Kazakh Mint.
