History reference:
Bolivar is first a minor (in 1871-1879), and then the main (from 1879 to 2018) monetary unit of Venezuela. Bolívar is named after Latin American independence hero Simón Bolívar. The bolívar was passe...d under the Monetary Law of 1879, replacing the short-lived Venezolano at a rate of five bolívares to one Venezolano. The bolivar was originally defined by a silver standard, equal to 4.5 grams of pure silver, following the principles of the Latin Monetary Union. The monetary law of 1887 made the gold bolivar unrestricted legal tender, and the gold standard came into full force in 1910. Venezuela abandoned gold in 1930, and in 1934 the exchange rate of the bolivar was fixed in US dollars at a rate of 3.914 bolivars = US$1, valued at 3.18 bolivars = US$1 in 1937, a rate that lasted until 1941 Until February 18, 1983 (now called Black Friday (Viernes Negro) by many Venezuelans), the Bolívar was the most stable and internationally recognized currency in the region. The Jersey Pound is the currency of Jersey. The official languages of Jersey are English and French, since 2010 the denomination is indicated on banknotes in English (in pounds) and French (in livres...). The Jersey pound is pegged to the pound sterling at a ratio of 1:1. British coins are freely accepted on the island. Notes of the Bank of England, Scottish and Northern Irish banks, as well as Guernsey, while not being legal tender, can be accepted on the island. In the UK, the Jersey currency is not officially solvent, but Jersey money can be accepted for payment along with your own. All banknotes of the new series featured a portrait of Elizabeth II, and the image of a cow was used as a watermark. In 2012, in honor of the anniversary of the British Queen, a commemorative series of 100 pounds banknotes was issued. It was a limited edition, reflecting the historical events of the reign of Elizabeth. The front side of the banknote is decorated with a realistic full-face portrait of the Queen.
