History reference:
The Belize dollar has been the national currency and money of Belize since 1885. Replaced the pound sterling. And after the devaluation of the British pound in 1949, the Honduran dollar was finally pegged to the US dollar. This fact contributed to a sharp increase in the local currency against the pound.
