History reference:
The lek is the monetary unit of Albania and has been in circulation since 1926 along with the Albanian franc. For a long time, Albania was part of the Great Ottoman Empire, and was not an independent... state. In 1912, the country declared its sovereignty, and after that announced the beginning of the war of liberation. After Albania finally acquired sovereignty, Austro-Hungarian, Italian, and also French banknotes are in circulation in the country. The Albanian franc appeared in 1926, when Albania became part of the Latin Monetary Union, and was able to provide the domestic currency with gold and silver. A lek was considered 1/5 of a gold franc. In 1965, a denomination was carried out in Albania. History reference:
The Cayman Islands dollar was introduced on May 1, 1972, replacing the Jamaican dollar (which remained legal tender until August 31, 1972).
